Discover Tarragona by motorhome: three themed routes to get lost on the asphalt with pleasure

Mont-roig del Camp, October 2020.- Tarragona is a province full of contrasts: from the green and mountainous landscapes inland to the almost 90 kilometers of beaches, it is also an ideal area to explore by motorhome. With a few stops you will discover the most important enclaves and here are three routes to get to know the province by road and by camper yourself:

Modernist route: Riudoms - Reus - Tarragona

The starting point is none other than Riudoms, the birthplace of the architect Antoni Gaudí. The artist's old family house has been preserved there, has now been renovated and is suitable for visits. In less than 10 minutes you follow the gentle curves of the T-310 and arrive in Reus, a city that pays tribute to the main artists of the modernist movement such as Lluís Domènech, Pere Casells and also Antoni Gaudí. This modernist route through the community is well documented. The capital of Baix Camp is interesting enough to spend at least half of the day there.

Leaving Reus and taking the T-11 road, you can take an afternoon stroll through Tarragona, a city with 55 modernist buildings, among which the Casa Rosell stands out, as well as the Mercat Central and the Quinta de Sant Rafael.

Medieval route: Alcover - Montblanc - Farena

The first stop is Alcover, a small inland town with a service area for RVs. A stroll through this small town is enough to quickly appreciate the medieval heritage on the walls. On a drive of less than 20 minutes along the C-14, easily accessible from Alcover, a must-stop stop is in Montblanc, which has the largest ancient walls in Catalonia: a delight for lovers of the Middle Ages and a perfect place to take photos of churches, Poblet Cister Monastery, walls and squares.

Back on the road, the natural landscapes between La Riba and the last stop on this route take on a special meaning: Farena. This little town in the Prades Mountains is a trip back in time to the Middle Ages and a place to enjoy a delicious meal after exploring spectacular natural corners like Toll de l'Olla: a crystal clear waterfall in the middle of the forest.

Coastal route: Cambrils - El Perelló - l'Ampolla

A route where you can enjoy the beauty of the Mediterranean landscapes and coasts, with a gastronomic offer of high quality. One of the enclaves that best illustrates it is Cambrils, with its beaches and its typical black rice with octopus. The Mediterranean Highway or the A-7 connects you in 40 minutes with El Perelló, a place where you can taste coffee with sweet honey, a star product of the region due to its beekeeping tradition.

To end this beach route, the next municipality, l'Ampolla, can be reached after another 20 minutes on the road. This offers a wide range of leisure and dining options, ideal for a pleasant evening meal after exploring the beaches, visiting the viewpoints and maybe even practicing water sports.

Overnight at a high-class campsite

Montroig del Camp is a municipality on the Costa Daurada that houses what was named the best family campsite of 2020: the Playa Montroig Camping Resort. This accommodation is a five-star campsite where you can spend the night with the motorhome on one of the six types of pitches, such as the premium pitches by the sea. Due to its proximity to the communities on these routes, it is the ideal option to rest after one of the RV routes.

The Playa Montroig Camping Resort, whose next season will open in March 2021, goes one step further and offers its services exclusivity and quality. In addition to the accommodation, they offer: gastronomic offerings through bars and restaurants, swimming pools, entertainment, entertainment, spa and wellness services and sports facilities.
